Week 9 CFL Preview

Welcome to another CFL, CFL DFS advice article.   I am coming off a bounce-back week after having my first negative week I returned to profitability last week.  We have another 3 game slate this week which I am not really a fan. I am going to reduce how much I play this week but last 3 game slate was a successful one for me.   Let’s get started!

QB:

MIKE REILLY Edmonton Eskimos $11,700

Reilly is steady and safe as a QB play every week.  The Lions secondary has been slowly improving but it still allowed 370 passing yards last week to the Stamps. Reilly is my top play this week in both cash and gpp.

TREVOR HARRIS Ottawa RedBlacks $10,700

The RedBlacks get a plus matchup against Montreal.  Montreal just hasn’t had the success on defense that I thought they would this year with the change at defensive coordinator.  They have allowed 300 plus passing yards in 3 of their last 4 games and more than 500 yards total against in their last two games.

TRAVIS LULAY BC Lions $9,400

Lulay and the Lions host Edmonton this week.  For the Lions to win Lulay is going to have to be great.  He has been very good since returning from injury and taking over the starting job for the Lions.  The Lions are 2-0 at home this season but are 0-4 on the road. The Lions are at home this week and really need a win to stay in the hunt for a playoff spot this year.  I really like Lulay and his receivers as a GPP play this week.

RB:

ANDREW HARRIS Winnipeg Blue Bombers $8,700

The Blue Bombers return to action this week after a bye last week.  Harris should be rested and ready to have a good game. He is the most dynamic and well rounded running back in the league.  The Bombers have a tough matchup against the Tiger-Cats. The Bombers are going to look to establish the run this week. Also, Harris should see opportunities through the air.

WILLIAM POWELL Ottawa RedBlacks $7,500

Powell has struggled the last few games.  A matchup against Montreal should help to end his struggles.  Montreal allows well over 4 yards per run against the run. The Redblacks should get an early lead in the game and will likely turn to the run game to control the game and to keep Montreal’s chance to get back into the game.

TRAVON VAN BC Lions $5,700

Van will get the start for the Lions at running back this week.  The Eskimos defense does allow yards against on the ground. The Lions are going to need to run the ball to have a chance this week.  Van is the cheapest starting running back on the slate offering us a great value play at running back.

WR:

BRAD SINOPOLI Ottawa RedBlacks $9,100

With 27 catches in his last three games, Sinopoli is a PPR machine.  He leads the CFL with 52 catches this season. Touchdowns are difficult to predict, catches are much easier to predict.  Sinopoli is going to get his share of catches and targets against Montreal this week. He has the highest floor of any receiver and if he gets into the end zone his ceiling is near the top of all the receivers this week.

D’HAQUILLE WILLIAMS Edmonton Eskimos $9,800

Duke Williams had been money almost every week and has put up at least 20 points five games in a row.  Last week he fell off a cliff as the Riders were able to shut him down with the return of their starting corner. His price went down a bit this week. I think his matchup is going to be easier than it was last week.  Look for him to have a bounce-back week.

DIONTAE SPENCER Ottawa RedBlacks $8,600

Spencer has a lot of upside, maybe more than any player in the CFL. He returns kicks, he is one of the best receivers in the league and can turn any play into long play.

NIC DEMSKI Winnipeg Blue Bombers $6,500

Nic Demski seems to be a bigger part of the Bombers offense every week.  Last week he had his best game of the season with 116 yards and a touchdown.

GENO LEWIS Montreal Alouettes $5,700

Johnny Manziel made his CFL debut last week and it went poorly. We will leave it at that.  One positive thing for him was Geno Lewis. He had 4 catches for 76 yards and there appeared to be some chemistry between the two.

RICKY COLLINS JR. BC Lions $4,500

Ricky Collins continues to start on the field wideout for the Lions giving him opportunity every week to produce fantasy points.

NATE BEHAR Edmonton Eskimos $3,800

I am going to stick with Behar a value pick.  He is still in the starting lineup for the Esks and playing the boundary slot should have him seeing targets.  If he doesn’t produce much he brings value by allowing us to fit some more higher priced players in our lineups.

RedBlacks $5,200

I’ll keep this short.  The RedBlacks are playing against Montreal and Johnny Manziel’s 4 interceptions.  They also have Dionte Spencer returning kicks.
