Oh what a lovely day for more NBA, Happy Friday folks!

With so many superstars lined up for tonights slate, you have to outline certain strategies you want to implement to win. For this take, I’ve decided to fade most chalk and provide value cash core plays along with the familiar GPP sleepers, let’s roll:

Point Guard

Giannis Antetokounmpo $10,000

If you’re throwing the dice and fading Westbrook & Harden in cash, play Giannis. In his last 5 games he’s been able to average only 5 less Draftkings points than James Harden, and saves you $1.5 in salary. This is a game that can definitely stay close (Bucks -3.5), and Antetokounmpo is statistically better at home.

GPP sleeper : Tyler Johnson $5,500

Johnson has been super hot as of late, averaging 35 points in his last three due to numerous injuries for Miami. Cleveland is an 11 point favorite here, and if they are able to blow the Heat out look for Johnson to thrive. He’s an underrated rebounder for his position (4.7/game) and with added court time may provide four + assists, two steals & two three pointers. The price is right.

Shooting Guard

Devin Booker $5,900

This is a solid matchup for Booker due to a fast PACE and the Lakers lack of a shut down defender. Albeit, Booker’s game is points dependent but he can definitely go off here. Earl Watson can be frustrating with minutes allocations, but loves to run his best scorer. His usage rate is surprisingly in line with Harrison Barnes (~26), and I’m hoping his shot is falling tonight!

GPP sleeper : Courtney Lee

While the chalk will be with Brandon Jennings due to Rose being out, I will also have some stock in Lee. In the previous game that Rose missed, he had a solid 15 points, five assists, two rebounds, two steals & three three’s! The value here is awesome and he’s a staple for this Knicks team that lacks depth at the guard position.

Small Forward

LeBron James $9,600

Now I’m aware that I mentioned how large a favorite the Cavaliers are in this game, but I will be playing LeBron here if Kevin Love is held out. LeBron & Kyrie are immediately impacted with more usage if K Love sits, and I’ll take my chances with The King at home versus his former team. I think James is a safe cash bet, and some could take a chance fading him which can put your roster in a sweet spot.

GPP sleeper : Jae Crowder $5,700

Crowder is one of Brad Stevens favorite players, and he’ll be playing a Raptors team without their best defender in DeMarre Carroll. Isaiah Thomas is being held out tonight, so I like Avery Bradley here also. However, I’ll roll the dice and save some Draftkings salary and play the guy who’s not chasing DeMar Derozan around all night. Jae Crowder has scored double digits and has provided an average of 28.38 DK points in his last eight games.

Power Forward

DeMarcus Cousins $10,900

I’d like to point out that the top two studs in tonight’s slates (Westbrook/Harden) have pretty good defenders guarding them (Beverley/Roberson). Cousins will be matched up with Kristaps Porzingis. No shade, but Boogie can do what he wants with that man. Somehow I feel like Cousins dominance gets overlooked, and this can be a perfect chance at low ownership for him. In the last matchup with New York, he put up 68.8 DK points. In his last 10 games, he’s averaged 60.58 DK points while shooting 44% from long range!

GPP sleeper : Trevor Ariza $5,500

This is a spot that I’m hoping plays out similar to the previous game. Harden does some damage but has so much defensive focus that it has to come from other places. Insert Ariza, who will see plenty of run in this matchup. Ariza has been somewhat hit or miss this year, but I’ll throw salary his way in a game with a 225 expected points total.

Center

Karl-Anthony Towns $8,300

The Minnesota Timberwolves are having a frustrating season as a team, and the only player I want to have in my lineup is Towns. Andre Drummond can get a high amount of rebounds, but cannot stop a scorer. Towns should be able to have a great all-around game and is hungry for a victory in a winnable situation. In his last ten games he’s averaging 6 more DK points than Whiteside! He recently upped his averages to a double-double for the season and should continue to improve as the season progresses.

GPP sleeper : Myles Turner $5,900

This is a homecoming play for the kid from Texas. Playing a Mavericks front court without Andrew Bogut & Dirk Nowitzki helps Turner on both ends of the court. He’s a player with a motor that could be on extra charged with friends & family in attendance.
