We’re back with some juicy mid-season matchups. Once again, we take our favorite high-upside plays for daily fantasy sports. These picks are price in Fanduel and contain players with high-ceiling opportunities (chance of beating their cost by a longshot).
New York Giants vs Detroit Lions
Total: 49 Line: Lions -7
Matthew Stafford @$7700 looks to snap his three-game losing streak after throwing for 364 yards last week and four touchdowns. His receiving core gives you a 50/50 chance to pick the winner for the week, but Kenny Golloday @$6700 is only $400 more than Marvin Jones Jr. @$6300. Kenny G. has put up a much more consistent fantasy output. On the ground Ty Johnson @$5200 takes over the lead back role for Kerryon who is now on IR. His work should be significant in this game script, but I’m sure he’ll be absolute chalk this week.
Saquon Barkley @$8600 looks to feast on a Lions team that gave up 142 yards and two touchdowns to Dalvin Cook last week. Additionally, the Lions are giving up a massive 4.8 YPC, while Saquon is averaging 5.6ypc. Daniel Jones @$7000 could be a contrarian play against a defense that ranks bottom of the league and his full array of weapons in good health. Evan Engram @$6300 had a tough time against the Cardinals but looks to bounce back after a nice price reduction. The Lions defense allows 9.9 yards per target to the tight end position.
Seattle Seahawks @ Atlanta Falcons
Total: 54 Line: Seattle -3.5
Russel Wilson @$8600 looks to have a huge bounce-back game against a Falcons Defense that has allowed the most points and sacks of any team this season. His weapons? Tyler Lockett @$7200 is poised for greatness. Despite the effectiveness versus the run, Chris Carson @$8000 is bound to have lots of scoring opportunities this week, easily giving him two touchdown potential is this high-scoring affair. We think Seattle takes this game by a few more than 3.5 points, and if Matt Ryan doesn’t suit up? Give me some Seahawks defense @$4900.
Now if Matt Ryan’s @$7600 ankle is good to go this week he’s an intriguing pick. Calvin Ridley @$5400 becomes a MUST-PLAY due to Sanu getting traded to the Patriots. Ridley is averaging 6+ targets a game and has scored in four weeks, look for him to enhance those numbers. We expect Seattle to take a lead in this game and exploit the bad defense of the Falcons, therefore we’ll need lots of passing to catch up. Good thing Devonta Freeman @$6200 averages almost five targets a game and just got the backfield to himself with Ito Smith getting injured.
Denver Broncos @ Indianapolis Colts
Total: 43.5 Line: Colts -5.5
Jacoby Brissett @$7500 is looking exactly like a franchise quarterback. Last week he threw for four touchdowns against Houston, making him 4th overall amongst QBs in touchdowns. Pair that with only three interceptions all season and he’s a smash hit this week against a demoralized Broncos defense. Yes, they are tough against the pass, but Marlon Mack @$6800 looks to eat this week. The plus game script will involve lots of Mack. The Colts defense @$4800 looks like something you might want to pay for this week. Their numbers look middle of the pack, but they’ve already squared off against Houston and Kansas City this year and held them to a combined 36 points. Joe Flacco has thrown an interception in five of his last six games and looks horrendous moving forward without Emmanuel Sanders, who was traded to the 49ers this week.
For the Denver Broncos I’d advise starting Courtland Sutton @$6000. He’s the only viable option on the Broncos and the offense should be funneled through him. The idea is that the Broncos will be down the entirety of the game and be throwing bombs to Sutton trying to play catchup. Without Sanders clogging up the target pool, Sutton is a locked and loaded WR2 with top 10 potential.
Cincinnati Bengals vs Los Angeles Rams
Total:48.5 Line: Rams – 13
Give me all the Rams this week in a blowout matchup. Jared Goff @$8000 has been tough sledding a few weeks but just had a great game last week and is going into another plus matchup. It should translate to lots of time to throw with the Bengals defense only recording nine sacks in the past seven games. His most valuable asset? A healthy Todd Gurley @$7400. That price for this matchup is unreal, and I expect him to get most of the carries. The Rams implied total is over 30 points, so Cooper Kupp @$7700 should have a day against the Bengals secondary. Overall, he’s ranked eighth or better in receiving yards, TDs, receptions, AND targets. This is not coincidence, when Goff has a good game, Kupp has a good game. Look for him to boost these numbers against one of the easiest matchups all year. I won’t even go over to the Bengals side of the ball this week, because the Rams have too many good options their defense @$5000 could be a great pay-up option. The addition of Jalen Ramsay was an instant success last week, he was shutting the likes of Julio Jones out and even sacked for a fumble. The offensive line additionally should run for cover. Aaron Donald, named the best player in the NFL last year, will be swimming through an atrocious offensive line for some well-deserved hits on the likes of Andy Daulton.
This will be a bloodbath.
